Leading Edge Avionics Catalina Fly In and Campout 2019
Our second annual Leading Edge Avionics Catalina Fly-In event this last Saturday and Sunday, July 13th - 14th was a huge success. Nearly 60 campers and guests flew in on aircraft from a “Batman inspired” to Cessna 421 and an EC135 Eurocopter taking advantage of the new runway at our favorite Airport in the Sky! The runway was redone by the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton as a training exercise, reopened May 3rd and we must say, they did an outstanding job!
As we did last year, all planes gathered on the west end of the airport with yummy food, lively conversations, games, and movies on a huge movie screen. The laughter watching Airplane! could be heard all across the airport. We spent time with old customers and met some potential new customers and fellow aviation enthusiasts. This is always our most enjoyable time to really revel in the joy of flying.
Once again, big shout outs to the Catalina airport manager Justin Bollum who went out of his way to make this event successful! Thank you to all of our guests who helped with setup, brought delicious ceviche, great conversation, helped us breakdown and load up for the trek home. Only two 6 trips to get everything safely back to John Wayne airport!
Several guests rode bikes into town, hiked some amazing trails and saw incredible buffalo on their journeys. Truly a weekend to remember..we can't wait for next year and invite you to sign up early for 2020’s fly-in! They only get better!
